On August 25, 2023, our church building of 40 years was burned beyond repair due to the actions of an arsonist. County and Federal officials subsequently indicated that the fire was a random act in which an arsonist set fire to the church building under darkness of the early morning hours. The arsonist visited other churches that night, and is unknown to our members, so her motive is unknown. Fire crews were unable to quench the flames in time to prevent a total loss of the building. We are thankful that no one was seriously injured during the fire.
Since that time, our congregation has gathered in various rented locations. Our congregation felt that the best course of action would be to remain in the immediate area and construct a new church facility on different property in the Snohomish-Monroe area. We currently rent/lease Cavalero Middle School in Lake Stevens as our gathering place. We extend our appreciation to the Lake Stevens, Monroe, and Snohomish School Districts for allowing us to lease their facilities in the interim. Our plan is to remain at Cavalero until construction of our new facility is complete.
With challenges presented by ongoing service scheduling adjustments, which include Sunday School needs, music programs and other congregational gatherings, we are thankful God has blessed us with hearts and minds to adapt to changes and move forward. The planning phase of the new building is well underway, and we trust God will provide the means necessary to complete the project.
